OnePlus 7T Review

OnePlus has recently launched its new 7 series device, which honestly lies between OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro bracket. The new OnePlus 7T gets the bits-and-pieces from both the devices and has also added some tweaks. It is not just a minor refresh as it is featuring a newly-designed triple-camera setup, a minimal notch on the screen, a 90Hz refresh rate screen, and a new Snapdragon 855+ processor. The new device starts at Rs. 37,999 and is relatively equally powerful and affordable than OnePlus 7 Pro. One Plus 7 Pro was launched a few months back, and this new device fills that gap by bringing many upper model features at affordable prices. Is it the best affordable premium smartphone right now? Let’s check it out in the OnePlus 7T review below:

Design and Display

OnePlus 7T has got both its looks and design from OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. The minimal notch on the front and a changed rounded-camera module on the rear panel are the only things you will find different. Yes, there is a waterdrop notch like OnePlus 7, but is has shrunken down. The phone is fairly bulky and is using Corning Gorilla Glass on the front and the back. On the right, you get to see a power button and alert slider while volume rockers are on the right. On the bottom, you get to see a dual SIM tray and USB-C Type-C port. The OnePlus 7T comes in two variant colors: Glacier Blue and Frosted Silver.

Coming to the display, the OnePlus 7T packs a 6.55inches OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate as well as HDR10+. It has a 1080×2400 pixel resolution and is surely one of the most affordable phones having a 90Hz refresh rate. The notch on top of the screen is one-third smaller than OnePlus 7’s, which makes display excellent. There is no reason to hate this display- so beautifully designed and built. In the world of LCDs and OLEDs with a 60Hz refresh rate, OnePlus has started the revolution with 90Hz and 120Hz displays. Not to brag about it, we love this display.

Under the hood, the new OnePlus 7T has Qualcomm’s refreshed Snapdragon 855+ processor, which is slightly faster than Snapdragon 855. Also, Qualcomm claims that its GPU is 15 percent better. The processor is coupled with 8 gigs of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. OnePlus has decided not to support microSD cards. Coming to its performance, the device is snappy and very responsive. You cannot define the difference between OnePlus 7 Pro and this phone’s performance. It is so smooth and gives so much pleasure while you use it. On the AnTuTu platform, this device score around 400,000, which is an astronomical result. Gaming is fun and gameplay equally smooth. The in-display fingerprint sensor and face recognition work fast and are very responsive. OnePlus 7T runs Android 10 out of the box coupled with OxygenOS 10.

Coming to the cameras, the OnePlus 7T carries a triple-rear camera module, including a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, 16MP ultrawide sensor covering 117 degrees field of view, and a 2x telephoto lens with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, there is a 16MP sensor. The triple-rear camera setup complements every camera very well. Sometimes autofocus does fail to lock itself on to a subject. In daylight, you get some well-detailed dynamic picture. When the night mode kicks off, the picture in low light comes with aesthetics and wonder. Comparing its pics with iPhone 11’s, this phone stands nowhere in front of the iPhone. Overall, both front and rear camera setup gives well-detailed photos covering aesthetics, sharpness, and filling dynamic ranges.

Battery Life

OnePlus 7T packs a high-capacity 3,800mAh battery, which has gone up from 3,700mAh. Also, the brand says that the new Warp Charge 3T standard is faster than Warp Charge 30. You get a 30W charger out of the box, which can take the device from zero to 70 percent in just half an hour. Talking about how this device will perform in the real world, it can keep itself alive for a whole day on casual usage. On the HD Video loop test, this device ran for around 15 hours, which is good. Final Verdict

The new OnePlus 7T is big, bold, beautiful, and powerful, coming at very affordable pricing. It is a solid update to OnePlus 7, which was launched four months back. People who bought OnePlus 7 might get disappointed and that disappointment is right. This new device carries everything which an ideal user wants in its device. The best update being the 120Hz refresh rate screen, which we saw in OnePlus 7 Pro. This device offers tons of features like Snapdragon 855+, 90Hz refresh rate screen, versatile camera module, and Android 10. If you were considering Samsung S10e, Pixel 3a, or iPhone 11 to buy, just stay tight as this device is a powerful alternative to all those phones at the lower price tag. The best affordable-flagship of 2019? OnePlus 7T is the winner.
